Home Search Topics Contact About | A Dangerous MinefieldI would compare the Christian life to walking through a dangerous minefield. We forget how desperately we need God*s will, protection and guidance. Sins can do a lot of damage. God forgives but sometimes the damage remains. Sometimes believers don*t know where the explosives are. An unbeliever never knows. The Lord ALWAYS knows. An unbeliever ought to give his life to Christ before he takes another step. A Christian ought often to pray these prayers and mean them: Luke 22:42b: . . . not my will, but thine, be done. Matthew 6:13a: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: . . . Psalms 139:24: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. 1 Corinthians 11:31: For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. When a Christian judges himself correctly he will know that His own will is ALWAYS wrong and dangerous and God*s will is ALWAYS right and safe. He will know that he ALWAYS NEEDS God*s will, protection and guidance. Two truths that we too often forget are these: Jeremiah 10:23: O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Psalms 37:23: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. I am greatly encouraged by the promise that follows in verse 24: Psalms 37:24: Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. Am I delighted in the Lord*s way and afraid of my own? How about you? 1 Peter 5:6: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Am I truly humble under the mighty hand of God or am I trying to be exalted right now instead of in due time? How about you? Annie Hawks knew of her great need and expressed it beautifully in the words of her song I Need Thee Every Hour.
